On June 26, 2018, the city of Stara Zagora hosted the 6th Regional Conference, organised in connection with the role of NAVET as a representative of Bulgaria in the European Network for Vocational Education and Training ReferNet.
The event was officially opened by Mrs. Emiliyana Dimitrova, Chairperson of NAVET. Mrs. Tatyana Dimitrova, Head of the Regional Education Directorate in Stara Zagora, together with Mrs. Penka Chavdarova, Head of Education in Stara Zagora Municipality, welcomed the participants.
The conference was attended by representatives of vocational high schools in the city and the region, vocational training centers, universities, NGOs, the EA Regional Employment Office, representatives of employers’ and employees’organisations.
The participants received information on the role and activities of the European Center for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) and the European Network for the Exchange of Vocational Education and Training (ReferNet). There was a presentation on access to topical reports, analyses, research published on the CEDEFOP and ReferNet websites.
A report on the state of VET in Bulgaria was presented, as well as good practices for the partnership between business and education in the region and the advantages of implementing Europass-application to the Certificate of Vocational Qualification and the Certificate of Vocational Training.
The attendees received information on the training of mentors in the dual vocational training system and shared experience in providing vocational training for prisoners.
During the discussion, specific suggestions were made aimed at the VET system, which NAVET will submit to relevant competent institutions.
